Why community outperforms motivation

Adherence is a social problem before it is a physiological one. What we learned from 12 weeks of squads.

Why community outperforms motivation

Motivation is a weather system. Community is climate. In a 12-week squad trial, members who trained with a named group completed 31% more sessions than those who trained alone with identical programming.

The mechanism is not cheerleading. It is being expected. Run club at 6:40, a shared challenge, a locker you see the same four people at — those are cheaper than another reminder notification.

We cap membership so the floor stays familiar. Squads, seasonal challenges and the cafe are not extras. They are how the work actually happens after week three.
